I just wish the course description had been a little more accurate.

Define “short”....and there were two! We ran up Hillside first and then back up Beatlands and Cliff!
Definitely false advertising! This was one of the comments I saw afterwards.

“A largely flat course with a short incline” is not a really true description. As someone who has a back problem, I try and avoid races with such big hills as they aggravate my back. I started off really well and was really enjoying myself but by the time I got to the top of the first hill, I was in tears and struggled with the rest of the course, especially knowing that I had to get back to the top having gone down to the sea front.

Everything else was perfect, but it really is important to have an accurate description of the course.

A nice run on a lovely day.

I thoroughly enjoyed today's run which was well organised. The only suggestions I have are: 1/ Have a tressel table at the finish with water already poured into cups. There was a long queue to get a drink as runners had to help themselves. 2/ It would have been safer if the stones had been brushed to one side along the Esplanade. They were a potential ankle twisting hazard.

I enjoyed the run & the hill section was challenging.

Elevation far more than advertised

1) Race briefing said run on left and pass on right. Everyone did the opposite and this wasn’t corrected by Marshall’s.
2) The bridge over the ford needed a marshal. Fast runners assumed right of way over slow runners, often running two abreast, requiring other runners to
3) I enjoy hill challenges, but prefer to know about them before hand. The description was a “short incline”....there were in fact 2 long inclines. If I’d known I may not have done this as the 2nd 10k in 2 weeks with a 5k night run on Thursday.

Good effort for a first event

Big hills were a surprise for a largely Flat course.
Pacers would be good, a lot of slower runners caused a bit of congestion first 1-2k
Could do with a halfway water stop, First stop is too early and a hell of a long way to get back for a drink.
After run drinks could have been arranged better, 5-10 minute wait for water.
There will always be a few snags for new events, we’ll done to all the event organisers, very friendly event!

Great event - lovely sunny morning!

Well done on your first event in Sidmouth! Maybe some portaloos would help the queue pre race! And the start was a bit chaotic - maybe better in the field? More signs warning locals of the event as I don’t feel it was well advertised around the public areas. I am familiar with this area but those that weren’t may of found the route unclear (the map wasn’t the best on the web!) and parts of the Byes didn’t have arrows or Marshall’s (someone I know ended up literally around the houses)... All in all a great event (despite those darn hills!!!). Friendly atmosphere and yummy flapjack!

Would do it again!

You could have been a bit more honest on the hills as they weren’t “short” inclines as advertised.

Finishers T-shirt is more useful than a medal!

Very well organised and good atmosphere

Maybe accommodation for more toilets at registration? and water station at top of the hills.

Scenic route with a couple of hills thrown in!

Would have been nice yo have vegan option at end as the flapjack wasn't suitable :(

Enjoyable

Would try to maybe start and finish on the sea front. A bit to tight at the start down the paths.

Gruelling hills

A good run but with two gruelling hills. Ashame it couldn’t start and end in sidmouth so as to get a drink and refreshments at the end. Overall a good run but route needs looking at as more walking than running in places. But thank you will do again next year but need more hill practice if the same route xx

Challenging but very good 10k run

The start-off could have been organised better - way to bunched and for those wanting to go for a fast time minutes lost getting bunched behind slower runners on narrow paths - if possible would have preferred to see the adjacent field utilised for a straighter start where runners could queue in an estimated finish time order.
This is the first time this race has been run I understand so still a learning curve - otherwise a good run with a good atmosphere

Disappointed. Wrongly advertised.

Disappointing the race description does not explain the route at all.
Queue for the water at the end is really not helpful. The water stop wasn’t at the best place.
The race could of done with a bit more excitement at the beginning to encourage everybody.
The route would be brilliant if you took the hill out on the way back.
The flapjack at the end and the medal was average!
The marshalls were good and encouraging.

Wrongly advertised

Advertised as mainly flat with small hill. I think the hill was particularly difficult especially as you did it twice. Also felt the water station was way too early at not even 2 miles! Main concern at end where u had to queue if u wanted water. When I finished the race the line was at least 30 people in length! Luckily I had water in the car!

Hill twice not needed.

Having to queue for water at the end was ridiculous and dangerous.
Advitised as flat with small hill but was not. I wasted 2 miles of what would have been a great race walking up a mountain!
Water station should have been at 5k!

Lovely route. Good cross section of runners - not just serious skinny PB’ers!

Need more loos, water stops and some distance signs.
Also - sold as mostly flat route. It ain’t !!
